dehumidifying & Drying

Carpet Water extraction

Dehumidification Process

Water Extraction

The initial step in addressing water damage is thorough water removal, including all objects affected by the water. ServiceMaster Restore® technicians employ specialized sensors and moisture readers to detect hidden water, ensuring the elimination of pockets of moisture that can lead to elevated humidity levels and potential mold growth. We meticulously extract water from carpets, padding, and upholstery to prevent mold development.

Moisture Elimination

After substantial water removal, the focus shifts to complete moisture elimination from the environment. Any residual moisture can create conditions conducive to mold and mildew growth, posing health risks. We employ dehumidifiers to extract moisture from the air, while high-velocity blowers facilitate rapid air circulation, expediting the drying process. This approach effectively restores humidity levels to normal.

Item Removal

As part of moisture eradication, all wet items are removed from the affected area. This includes furniture, linens, curtains, rugs, and padding. Water-damaged carpet is typically temporarily removed for drying and reinstallation, as the padding often absorbs water beyond recovery.

Cleaning and Sanitization

Upon achieving a dry environment, ServiceMaster Restore® technicians proceed to clean and sanitize all contents within the home. Our meticulous cleaning ensures that all surfaces are thoroughly dry and free from contaminants, preventing mold formation and microbial growth that could lead to future health concerns. This comprehensive cleaning process also helps control odors.

Specialized Care for Area Rugs

Area rugs receive specialized care, with a focus on minimizing color bleeding and discoloration. They may be transported to our warehouse for meticulous drying and restoration.

Restoration and Reconstruction

Following the completion of sanitization and the removal of water and moisture, we transition to the restoration phase of our process. This phase involves reconstruction and repair to return the affected area to its pre-damaged state.
